Inside Bibby Stockholm: what migrants can expect on board the barge

Migrants will first get a glimpse of the Bibby Stockholm as they look out of the minibus windows while they are driven over the narrow strip of land between Weymouth and Portland.

The dull rectangular block of grey and red stripes of the barge — about the size of a football pitch — contrasts with the other vessels and occasional cruise ships in the port of Portland and has a jetty all to itself towards the back of the dock.

As the minibus turns left after reaching the end of the land bridge, it will drive past a local D-Day visitor museum with a tank outside.

Another 100 metres on, the migrants will arrive at the heavily secured front gates of the port, where security
